Here’s a look at four of our favorite Memorial Day weekend events happening near Streamside Resorts.

North Landing Beach RV Resort & Cottages | Virginia Beach, VA

North Landing Beach is near one of the biggest Memorial Day celebrations on the East Coast. Virginia Beach pulls out all the stops every year, and 2026 is no exception.

Memorial Day Weekend Salute to Summer
Free concerts take over three oceanfront stages, at 17th Street Park, 24th Street Park, and 31st Street Park, Friday through Sunday. Local bands covering everything from rock to R&B keep the energy high all weekend. In between sets, stroll the boardwalk’s Heroes’ Walk, where banners written by local students honor fallen service members from conflicts throughout American history. It’s a moving and festive way to spend a summer evening on the beach.

Patriotic Festival
Held at the Norfolk Scope Arena, this three-day country music festival packs a patriotic punch with headliners Brooks & Dunn, Zach Top, and The Red Clay Strays, plus rising stars Lanie Gardner and The Castellows. Military discounts are available, and free pre-show activities run on the plaza before each night’s concert. It’s a don’t-miss for country fans spending the weekend in the Virginia Beach area.

Memorial Day Ceremony at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial
Each year, the City of Virginia Beach hosts a formal Memorial Day Ceremony at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial, located across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Hosted by the Virginia Beach Mayor’s Committee for Veterans, the ceremony honors those who gave their all and features flyovers, a 21-gun salute, a reading of the names of honored veterans, and remarks from distinguished guests. Military commands and organizations are invited to bring wreaths to place during the formal ceremony on behalf of their organization.

Heartland RV Resort & Cabins | Hermosa, SD

Nestled in the heart of the Black Hills, Heartland RV Resort puts you minutes from some of South Dakota’s most spectacular scenery and a fantastic lineup of Memorial Day weekend events.

Salute to Valor Festival
Hot Springs, just about 30 minutes from Hermosa, throws one of the most patriotic Memorial Day celebrations in the region. The four-day Salute to Valor Festival kicks off Friday with a wine walk and live music, then rolls into a Patriotic Parade, a free screening of Top Gun, a car show, and a Rocky Mountain oyster feed on Saturday. Sunday brings a community picnic and more live music, while Monday’s ceremonies include Stars, Stripes & Steps and a solemn Memorial Day ceremony at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home. Admission to the Pioneer Museum is free all day Saturday.

Bike Tour the Mickelson Trail
Memorial Day Weekend is one of the best times to explore the Black Hills by bike before the summer crowds arrive. Closer to home, the Mickelson Trail offers 109 miles of scenic riding through tunnels, over bridges, and past wildlife. Rent a bike in Hill City or Custer and make a day of it. For Mount Rushmore access with fewer crowds, early mornings on the holiday weekend are golden. The monument is lit from 9:30 p.m. nightly and free to walk in.

Verde River RV Resort & Cottages | Camp Verde, AZ

Verde River RV Resort sits along the Verde River in one of Arizona’s most beautiful corridors, making it the ideal gathering place for a Memorial Day Weekend that balances outdoor adventure, quiet reflection, and good old-fashioned resort weekend. The Verde Valley’s deep connection to military history, from the days of the U.S. Cavalry at Fort Verde to the present, makes it especially fitting to reflect on our Freedom here.

Here are some great local experiences to enjoy when you’re ready to venture out on Memorial Day Weekend.

Montezuma Castle National Monument
Just minutes from camp, Montezuma Castle is a set of remarkably well-preserved cliff dwellings right off I-17, offering a window into nearly 10,000 years of human history in the Verde Valley. The five-story structure is one of the best-preserved ancient cliff dwellings in North America, and the short, flat trail along Beaver Creek makes it accessible for all ages. It’s a humbling and awe-inspiring stop, especially meaningful over a weekend set aside to honor sacrifice and service and truly appreciate our American history.

Verde Canyon Railroad
For something truly unforgettable, the Verde Canyon Railroad offers a four-hour sightseeing journey through the beautiful wilderness of the American Southwest, gliding through desert canyon scenery near Sedona. Riders can choose a vintage train car or an open-air viewing car, spotting ancient Sinagua cliff dwellings, historic mining sites, and wildlife as the train follows the Verde River through a canyon inaccessible by road. It’s a relaxed, scenic way to spend a Memorial Day morning before heading back to camp for an afternoon of grilling and campfire stories.

Out of Africa Wildlife Park
One of Arizona’s most acclaimed wildlife parks sits just minutes from camp, and the warm-but-not-scorching temperatures of late May make it ideal for a full day outside. It’s a family favorite that never gets old, and the stories will carry all the way back to the campfire that night. Details at outofafricapark.com

Moose Creek RV Resort | West Glacier, MT

Moose Creek RV Resort is the perfect home base for Glacier National Park, and Memorial Day Weekend is a nature-filled and uncrowded time to experience the Crown of the Continent. Settle in among the trees, listen to the creek, and wake up knowing one of America’s most breathtaking national parks is right outside your door. Here are some of our favorite Memorial Weekend adventures happening near the resort, should you choose to venture out.

Bike the Going-to-the-Sun Road
Memorial Day Weekend is one of the only times you can pedal Glacier’s famous Going-to-the-Sun Road without vehicles. Upper sections are still closed to cars at this time of year, making it a cyclist’s paradise. Waterfalls cascade off the mountains, wildlife roam greening meadows, and the alpine air is crisp and clean.Glacier Guides offers interpretive guided bike tours and e-bike rentals for those who want a little extra push.

Whitewater Rafting on the Middle Fork Flathead
Spring snowmelt makes Memorial Day Weekend one of the most thrilling times of year on the wild and scenic Middle Fork of the Flathead River, which forms Glacier’s southern border. Glacier Guides’ Sport half-day trip puts up to nine paddlers on a lighter boat, which means bigger thrills, with everyone paddling as part of the crew. It’s the perfect way to kick off summer with an adrenaline rush.
