Berkeley Plantation

About an hour from the resort in Charles City, Berkeley Plantation is one of Virginia's most historic sites. The 1726 Georgian mansion sits on a hill overlooking the James River and is the birthplace of Benjamin Harrison V, signer of the Declaration of Independence, and William Henry Harrison, the ninth president of the United States. Berkeley is also recognized as the site of America's first official Thanksgiving in 1619, and it is where the bugle call 'Taps' was composed during the Civil War.

Spread across more than 7,000 acres, Richmond National Battlefield Park preserves the sites of the battles fought over the Confederate capital during the Civil War. Located in the heart of Richmond, the Poe Museum is home to the world's largest collection of Edgar Allan Poe's manuscripts, letters, personal belongings, and memorabilia. Just about 20 minutes from the resort, Kings Dominion is one of the East Coast's most popular Six Flags theme parks and a great choice for a full day of family fun.
