Introducing Streamside’s New Follow the Sun Passport Program

Every fall, snowbird season brings a familiar sight to highways across the country: RVs heading south in search of warmer days. For travelers making their way through North Florida along I-10 and I-75, the route is often one piece of a much longer journey, and the miles in between can be just as much a part of the experience.

Located in Madison, Florida, The Station RV Resort gives snowbird travelers a convenient place to pull off the road, settle in, and take a break before the next stretch of the trip. Whether that means staying for the night or building an extra day into the itinerary, a well-planned stop can make a long journey south a lot more enjoyable.

That idea is also at the heart of Follow the Sun, a travel program connecting 22 Streamside Resorts and encouraging RV travelers to discover more places along the way. Through the Follow the Sun Passport, qualifying stays can even turn those stops into rewards for future travels.

Making more of the snowbird journey starts with how you approach the road ahead, from planning manageable travel days and preparing your RV for the miles ahead to choosing stops that give you a reason to stay awhile.

Make the Journey Part of the Trip

When you have hundreds of miles between home and your winter destination, it can be tempting to plan each day around one question: how much ground can you cover?

Experienced RV travelers know the longest travel day isn’t always the best one.

Building a better snowbird route can be as simple as looking beyond mileage. Think about where you’ll fuel up, which stretches of highway tend to be busier, and what to look for when choosing a big rig friendly RV park. Planning shorter travel days every so often can also give you time to handle groceries, laundry, maintenance, or other errands without squeezing them into an already-long day on the road.

It helps to identify a few places along your route where you wouldn’t mind spending more than one night, too. When the weather changes, traffic slows you down, or you simply decide you’ve driven enough for the day, having some flexibility built into the trip can make the whole journey feel a little less like a race south.

Still mapping out your journey south? Explore Streamside Resorts along your travel route to discover potential stops and see where your next stay could take you.

And sometimes an extra night isn’t about logistics at all. It’s an opportunity to explore a town you normally pass on the interstate, meet fellow travelers and campground neighbors, or enjoy a full day when the RV doesn’t move an inch.

That’s part of what makes snowbird travel different from simply driving to a destination: your RV gives you the freedom to make something out of the miles in between.

Get Your RV Ready for the Miles Ahead

Preparing for a snowbird trip is a little different from packing for a weekend getaway. You’re not only preparing the RV for a long stretch of highway, you may also be traveling through changing temperatures, unpredictable fall weather, and several states before you reach your winter destination.

Before pulling out, give the RV a good once-over:

  • Check tires, tread, and tire pressure
  • Test batteries and inspect essential RV systems
  • Check propane levels
  • Restock tools, emergency supplies, medications, and road essentials
  • Secure cabinets and anything that could shift during travel
  • Check lights, connections, and towing equipment
  • Download or save campground and route information in case cell service is limited

Once you’re traveling, make checking the weather part of the morning routine. A route that looked perfect when you planned it weeks ago may need adjusting because of storms, wind, construction, or changing road conditions.

This is also a good time to think about the next several stops instead of only the next one. Know where you’re headed, but leave enough flexibility to change plans when you need to. Confirm upcoming campground stays, keep fuel stops in mind, and avoid waiting until the end of a long travel day to decide where you’ll spend the night.

A little preparation won’t eliminate every surprise on the road, but it can make those surprises much easier to handle.

Give Madison More Than an Overnight

For snowbirds traveling through North Florida, Madison sits in a useful spot near I-10 and I-75. That makes The Station RV Resort an easy addition to the route, but convenience doesn’t mean you have to treat it as a place to arrive late and leave first thing in the morning.

After several travel days, an extra day off the road can be pretty appealing.

At The Station RV Resort, spacious, full-hookup RV sites give you a place to get settled, while laundry facilities, modern bathhouses, reliable Wi-Fi, and other everyday conveniences make it easier to take care of the practical side of a long trip. Once that’s done, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the downtime, from the pool and fenced dog park to pickleball, bocce, cornhole, and the lounge and game room.

And you don’t have to spend the entire day at the resort.

A stop in Madison also gives you an opportunity to see a little more of North Florida before continuing your snowbird route. Explore downtown Madison, grab a meal locally, or discover some of the things to do near Madison, Florida. From local attractions to outdoor adventures, there are plenty of ways to turn a travel stop into a day of exploring.

Then come back to The Station, enjoy an evening without another travel deadline hanging over you, and start fresh the next morning.

Sometimes the most useful stop on a long RV trip is the one that gives you a full day off the road.

Turn Your Stops Into Stamps with Follow the Sun

This snowbird season, there’s another reason to make your stops along the way count.

Follow the Sun is a travel program designed to connect your journey across 22 Streamside Resorts. Whether you’re heading south for the winter, planning the return trip north, or simply exploring somewhere new, the program makes it easier to discover Streamside Resorts that can become part of your route.

At the center of the program is the Follow the Sun Passport. As you travel, qualifying stays earn stamps in your passport. Those stamps can come from visits to different Streamside Resorts or from separate stays at a resort you’ve already discovered and enjoyed. Collect enough along the way, and your travels unlock a reward for a future stay.

Here’s how the passport works:

  • Stay at a participating Streamside Resort for at least two nights to earn one stamp.
  • Collect stamps at different resorts or through separate qualifying stays at the same resort.
  • Collect three stamps to unlock 30% off a future stay of 2-7 nights.
  • Book your reward stay by December 31, 2026, and complete your travel by December 31, 2027.

The Station is one of the participating Streamside Resorts, so your stay in Madison can be part of your Follow the Sun journey. From there, your passport can help inspire the next stop, whether that means continuing south, exploring a new destination, or returning to a favorite resort later in your travels.

Stay, stamp, and save – and find your next stay along the way.
